Howard County Summer Theatre's 2017 Summer of Disney

MAIN STAGE - Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s MARY POPPINS!
Howard County Summer Theatre is pleased to announce its 43rd annual summer musical. Our 2017 main stage production is Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s MARY POPPINS!
Cameron Mackintosh’s MARY POPPINS is based on the beloved 1964 Disney movie, and was adapted from a series of books written by P. L. Travers. The Broadway musical version opened in November 2006 and closed in March 2013 after 2,619 performances. Our musical version combines elements from P. L. Travers’ books and the Disney movie to create a fun and compelling story.
MARY POPPINS is the story of the Banks parents who have been searching for years for a suitable nanny for their two unruly children, Jane and Michael. When Mary Poppins arrives to answer an ad for a nanny that the children wrote but never sent, it becomes clear that the Banks’ home will never be the same. Through a series of adventures and trials, Mary, her friend Bert, and a host of eccentric characters help the Banks family realize how much they love and need each other. Classic songs such as Step in Time, Jolly Holiday, and A Spoonful of Sugar are joined by some newer tunes such as Practically Perfect and Precision and Order to tell this “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” story.
HCST veteran Dave Bittner returns to the stage as George Banks with Robyn Bloom as his wife Winifred. Justin Moe portrays Bert, and we are pleased to welcome Heather Reed to the HCST family in the title role of Mary Poppins. The show is directed by Tom Sankey with a choreography team of Amanda Slatin, Alyssa Tschirgi, Laura Greffen, Victoria Farnsworth, and Kassi Serafini. Chris Hettenbach provides the vocal musical direction. We hope you enjoy the magical journey!
Show dates are June 29-30 and July 1, 5-8 @ 7:00 and July 2nd at 2:00. All performances are at Mt. Hebron High School, 9440 Old Frederick Rd. in Ellicott City. Tickets are $18 with a discounted price of $15 for seniors (60+) and children 12 and under. Tickets can be purchased at the Ellicott City Music and Arts store and online at www.ticketleap.com. This year’s beneficiaries include Prepare for Success and the Ellicott City Partnership.
